Whether it is a Google review, a Facebook review, or one of the countless other sites that people can vent about the bad experience they had with your company (true or not), there is a right way and many wrong ways to handle this as a business owner.
Depending on the nature of the review, it may be possible to get it removed, however, in most cases you can not get it taken down. In this case the worst thing you can do is ignore it. There is a certain method for responding to these reviews. Do not try to handle this on your own as you are likely to make the situation worse.
Here at Website Elevation, we have 15 years of experience handling reviews. Ideally most review will be positive however, there is no way to avoid negative reviews sooner or later. Your goal as a business owner should be to minimize the number of bad reviews that you get by providing excellent products, services, and customer care. When things go wrong, that is when we step in to minimize the damage caused by these reviews.
Now for a bit of good news. Any company that has 100% positive reviews is looked at by potential customers and being fake and often gets passed over. Customers know that you cannot make everyone happy and when they see that everyone who has left a review for you seems happy, they instinctively think to themselves that the reviews are fake and therefore they move on. So the moral of this story is, don’t stress out about 1 or 2 bad reviews if you have 20 good ones.
